Sub:-Pollution Abatement Works of River Panchaganga at Kolhapur (Maharashtra). Under NRCP. |
1) The Detailed Project Report (D.P.R.) For Pollution Abatement Work of River Panchaganga at Kolhapur was submitted by Department of Environment, Govt. of Maharashtra, for approval under National River Conservation Project (NRCP) on 28th March 2008 to Govt. of India. The cost of the Project is Rs. 48.14 crores The MJP has accorded technical sanction to the project on 18/01/08. |
2) The Pollution of Panchaganga river due to disposal of untreated municipal sewage from Kolhapur Town is very savior issue. The local people are making agitation continuously and submitting number of representation to Govt. at different level to resolve this Problem. Due to Contamination of Panchanganga river water not only Kolhapur city people suffering from health hazard but also around 10 lakh people residing in villages in three tehsils (Shirol, Hatkanangale, Karveer) located down stream of Panchanganga river are using this contaminated water for drinking, irrigation purpose. |
3) Considering the above facts revised detailed project report amounting to Rs.75.09 crores (based on DSR 08-09) is submitted to Ministry of Environment and forests NRCD New Delhi on 27/01/09 for approval. The necessary General body resolution for bearing 30% Share of the project O and M cost, cost of I and D work at line Bazar Mal is made on 31/01/09. This proposal is under consideration for approval. |
4) The details of the project are as under:-
◊ 80 MLD STP ( C-tech basis ) at Kasba Bawada
◊ Rising Main from Jayanti Nala Pumping station to proposed STP
◊ I and D work Pumping station and Rising Main for Bapat Camp Nala.
i] Estimated cost of project Rs.75.09 Crores.
ii] GOI Share (70%) Rs.52.56 Crores.
iii] Municipal share (30%) Rs.22.53 Crores.
